Fatal Incident: Three Lives Lost as Supply Vessel Sinks Following Collision Near Singapore

Vessel Casualty Report: Supply Boat Sinks After Contact with Landing Craft

On the morning of 12 June, a supply vessel sank approximately 1.5 nautical miles southwest of Pasir Panjang Terminal after a collision with a landing craft. The incident occurred at 0930 local time.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) confirmed that three crew members lost their lives in the accident. Immediate response was coordinated by the MPA, Singapore Police Coast Guard, and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Marine Division, deploying multiple assets to the scene.

Initial reports indicate the supply boat, operating in the vicinity of the terminal, made contact with the landing craft under unclear circumstances. Salvage and investigation operations are currently underway to determine the root cause of the collision and subsequent sinking.

Operational Response and Safety Advisory

All available resources were mobilised to conduct search-and-rescue (SAR) operations, including fast response craft and specialised marine units. The MPA has issued a navigational warning to vessels transiting the area, urging heightened vigilance and strict adherence to port traffic regulations.

Seafarers are reminded to maintain a proper lookout, comply with Vessel Traffic Information System (VTIS) instructions, and ensure all safety protocols are observed, particularly in congested terminal approaches.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
