Chilean Shipbuilder to Deliver First Hybrid Oceanographic Vessel to U.S.
Chilean shipyard ASENAV has been awarded a contract to construct a cutting-edge hybrid research vessel for the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego), marking Chile’s first export of a floating laboratory to the United States.
The state-of-the-art vessel, designed for oceanographic research, will operate from its home port in San Diego, California. It will integrate hybrid propulsion technology to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, aligning with modern sustainability standards in maritime operations.
