Historic Dutch East India Company Ship Arrives at Final Destination
The meticulously crafted replica of the 17th-century Batavia, a flagship of the Dutch East India Company (VOC), has been successfully transported and installed at its permanent exhibit site in Lelystad on 2 October.
The full-scale reconstruction, delivered in 1995 and meticulously restored at Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam, underwent final preparations before its final voyage. The vessel, a testament to 17th-century Dutch maritime engineering, now rests securely in its designated location, ready for public display and educational engagement.
