Norwegian Energy Giant and UAE Operator Collaborate on LPG/NGL Value Chain
Equinor ASA and Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) have formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop integrated solutions in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and natural gas liquids (NGL) shipping, storage, trading, and logistics within the United Arab Emirates.
The partnership aims to leverage Equinor’s global expertise in energy logistics and SNOC’s regional market position to enhance supply chain efficiency and expand LPG/NGL trading opportunities in the UAE and adjacent markets.
Key Focus Areas
- Shipping Optimization: Joint evaluation of vessel deployment strategies to improve transport efficiency between production hubs and demand centers.
- Storage Infrastructure: Potential development of dedicated LPG/NGL storage facilities in strategic UAE locations to support regional energy security.
- Trading Platform: Establishment of a collaborative framework to streamline NGL and LPG procurement, pricing, and distribution channels.
- Logistics Integration: Alignment of cold-chain and handling protocols to ensure compliance with international maritime and safety standards.
The initiative aligns with both organizations’ commitments to sustainable energy transitions while capitalizing on the UAE’s growing role as a global energy trading hub. Further operational details are expected to emerge as the MoU progresses toward a definitive agreement.
