Parramatta River Class Ferry Project Concludes with Delivery of Last Two Vessels
The Parramatta River Class ferry project, managed by Transport for New South Wales (NSW), has reached completion with the recent delivery of the final two vessels, Norman Selfe and Jack Mundey. Both ferries are now operational within Sydney’s ferry network, marking a significant milestone in the region’s maritime infrastructure.
Designed by Incat Crowther, the ferries are engineered to enhance passenger capacity, fuel efficiency, and service reliability. The 32-meter catamarans feature modern propulsion systems and optimized hull designs, ensuring improved performance in Sydney Harbour’s demanding conditions.
Key Features of the New Ferries
- Increased passenger capacity for high-demand routes
- Advanced propulsion for reduced fuel consumption and emissions
- Enhanced stability and maneuverability in urban waterways
- Compliance with stringent safety and accessibility standards
The integration of these vessels strengthens Sydney’s ferry fleet, supporting sustainable public transport and reducing road congestion. Transport for NSW has confirmed that the ferries will primarily serve the Parramatta River route, improving connectivity for commuters and tourists alike.
With the project now fully delivered, the focus shifts to long-term operational efficiency and maintenance to ensure consistent service reliability across the network.
