Explora III Joins MSC Group’s Premium Fleet

Fincantieri has officially handed over Explora III, the third luxury cruise vessel built for Explora Journeys, MSC Group’s high-end ocean travel brand. The delivery ceremony took place at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa, marking another milestone in the partnership between the Italian shipbuilder and the Swiss-based cruise operator.

Designed to redefine luxury at sea, Explora III follows the successful debut of its sister ships, Explora I and Explora II. The vessel incorporates advanced maritime engineering, refined interiors, and sustainable technologies, aligning with the industry’s push toward greener operations.

Key Features of Explora III

  • Gross tonnage: 64,000 GT
  • Length: 240 meters
  • Guest capacity: 922 (in 461 suites)
  • Crew complement: 640
  • Hybrid-ready propulsion system for future LNG conversion
  • Advanced wastewater treatment and energy-efficient systems

The ship’s delivery reinforces Fincantieri’s position as a leader in luxury cruise construction while expanding Explora Journeys’ capacity to meet growing demand for premium ocean travel. Explora III is scheduled to embark on its inaugural voyage later this year, offering itineraries across the Mediterranean and beyond.

MSC Group continues to invest in its luxury segment, with three additional Explora-class vessels already on order at Fincantieri, ensuring further fleet expansion through 2027.
