VINGA-Class Tanker Naming Event Marks Four Decades of Design Partnership
The latest addition to Furetank’s VINGA series of product and chemical tankers will be officially named during a ceremony at the Port of Uddevalla on 28 August.
The event celebrates not only the delivery of a new vessel but also forty years of continuous collaboration between Furetank and the ship design team behind the VINGA concept. The series is recognised for its fuel-efficient hull form, dual-fuel LNG propulsion, and compliance with the latest environmental regulations, including IMO Tier III and EEDI Phase 3 standards.
Technical Highlights
- Deadweight: 17,999 tonnes
- Cargo capacity: 20,300 m³ across 12 epoxy-coated tanks
- Propulsion: Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel main engine (LNG/MDO)
- Emission control: Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for NOₓ compliance
- Energy efficiency: Optimised hull lines, shaft generator, and waste-heat recovery
The VINGA series is designed to operate on both liquefied natural gas and marine gas oil, offering operators flexibility in fuel choice while minimising emissions. The naming ceremony will include a technical presentation and a tour of the vessel for invited industry stakeholders.
