MacGregor to Deliver 165-Ton AHC Crane for Jan De Nul’s Latest Ulstein Vessel
MacGregor, a leading provider of maritime cargo and load handling solutions, has been awarded a contract to supply a 165-ton active heave compensated (AHC) crane for a newbuild Ulstein SX121 vessel. The vessel is part of a 1+1 newbuilding program ordered by Jan De Nul Group and is currently under construction at China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) shipyard.
The AHC crane, designed for precision and operational efficiency in dynamic maritime environments, will enhance the vessel’s heavy-lift and subsea capabilities. This equipment is critical for supporting complex offshore operations, including installation, maintenance, and decommissioning projects.
Jan De Nul’s decision to equip the SX121 with MacGregor’s advanced crane technology underscores the vessel’s role in high-demand offshore sectors. The newbuild is expected to strengthen the company’s fleet, delivering enhanced performance in challenging sea conditions.
MacGregor’s scope of supply includes the crane’s integration, testing, and commissioning, ensuring seamless operation upon delivery. The project aligns with the industry’s push toward smarter, more resilient offshore assets.
