The State of Maine, the third in a series of five National Security Multi-Mission Vessels (NSMVs), has been commissioned for service at the Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) in Castine. Designed to replace aging training ships, the NSMV class integrates modern maritime education with real-world operational capabilities.

With two additional vessels under construction, the NSMV fleet will ensure all five state maritime academies have access to standardized, cutting-edge training resources by the end of the decade.
