Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm Substation Foundations Transit to Baltic Sea for OST-6-1 Grid Connection
The structural components—topsides and jacket foundations—for two offshore substations destined for Germany’s 927 MW Gennaker offshore wind farm have departed the Netherlands. The installations are en route to their final positioning in the Baltic Sea as part of the OST-6-1 offshore grid connection project.
The substation foundations, fabricated and assembled at the OSS Zingst facility in Rostock, are now being transported to their designated locations. Upon arrival, these substations will serve as critical nodes in the OST-6-1 grid infrastructure, facilitating the transmission of renewable energy generated by the Gennaker wind farm to the mainland grid.
The OST-6-1 project, a collaborative effort involving TenneT, 50Hertz, and other key stakeholders, underscores Germany’s commitment to expanding offshore wind capacity and reinforcing grid resilience in the Baltic Sea region.
