Fully Managed Bonded Connectivity Service to Enhance Operational Efficiency Across Global Fleet
Inmarsat Maritime, a Viasat business unit, has finalised a fleetwide deployment agreement with Hapag-Lloyd for its NexusWave fully managed bonded connectivity service. The decision follows a rigorous onboard evaluation programme that confirmed the solution’s performance and reliability under real-world operating conditions.
NexusWave integrates multiple satellite and terrestrial links into a single, resilient connection, delivering consistent bandwidth and low-latency data transfer. The service is designed to support critical vessel operations, crew welfare applications, and digitalisation initiatives without the need for manual network management.
Hapag-Lloyd initiated the trial phase to assess NexusWave’s ability to maintain uninterrupted connectivity across diverse trading routes, including high-latitude and congested coastal areas. The results demonstrated measurable improvements in data throughput, link stability, and failover response times, prompting the decision to standardise the solution across the entire fleet.
Deployment is scheduled to commence in phases, with priority given to vessels operating in regions where bandwidth demand is highest. Inmarsat will provide end-to-end service management, including 24/7 monitoring, performance optimisation, and on-demand technical support.
The rollout reflects Hapag-Lloyd’s commitment to leveraging advanced connectivity solutions to enhance operational resilience, reduce downtime, and support the evolving digital requirements of modern shipping operations.
