Normand Valiant Awarded Two-Year Petrobras Charter

Solstad Offshore ASA has confirmed a new two-year contract for its Normand Valiant construction support vessel (CSV) with Petrobras, Brazil’s state-controlled energy company. The agreement, valued at approximately USD 62 million, will commence in the fourth quarter of 2026, ensuring operational continuity following the expiration of the current charter.

The Normand Valiant, a high-specification CSV equipped for subsea construction, inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) operations, will support Petrobras’ offshore field developments in Brazilian waters. The vessel’s advanced dynamic positioning (DP3) system, 250-tonne active heave-compensated crane, and 1,400-square-meter deck space make it well-suited for complex subsea tasks in deepwater environments.

Operational Readiness and Market Positioning

This contract extension underscores Solstad’s strategic positioning in the Brazilian offshore sector, where the company has maintained a long-term presence. The Normand Valiant has been under charter with Petrobras since its delivery in 2016, demonstrating consistent performance in demanding offshore conditions.

Solstad’s fleet of 80+ vessels, including specialized CSVs, anchor handlers, and platform supply vessels (PSVs), continues to serve key energy markets globally. The company’s focus on high-end tonnage and long-term client relationships remains central to its commercial strategy.
